Match Preview – Yeovil Town (H) – Pre-Season Friendly

City’s penultimate pre-season outing takes place on Saturday with Yeovil Town the visitors to Cannon Clark Stadium @ Twerton Park. The match will see manager Darren Way face the club with which he spent the majority of his playing and managerial career.

PREVIOUS MEETINGS

On top of 274 competitive contests, these clubs have met in three pre-season friendlies. The most recent was in 2020, played in late-September following the delayed start to the season following the pandemic. Despite the announcement earlier in the day that the phased return of fans to games was being halted, the match was played in front of around 600 home supporters, who went home the happier.

TRIVIA

  • The early 2000s also saw FA Cup and FA Trophy meetings between the two. Darren Way featured in all three matches for the Glovers.
  • The last meeting saw Jack Batten return as a substitute having been sat out injured for 14 months.

FORM

  • City lost their first three friendlies before Jordan Alves’ stunning free-kick saw off Larkhall Athletic on Tuesday night.
  • Yeovil have won all three away pre-season matches at Exmouth, Sherborne and Chippenham, losing both games at Huish Park to a youthful Cardiff City side and Bristol Rovers.
