Weston Super Mare (0) 2 Bath City (0) 1 – Tuesday 25 November 2025 – Enterprise National League South – The Optima Stadium

Match Report by Mark Stillman.

Louis Britton’s 92nd minute winner ended Bath City’s five game unbeaten run at Weston-super-Mare.

The former Roman stabbed home his second of the game, nine minutes after Will Jenkins Davies appeared to have earned the visitors a point.

All three goals were similar times to City’s weekend win at Hampton, with Britton putting the Seagulls ahead just after half-time.

But an inability to defend a late set-piece cost Darren Way’s side dearly, with five points now lost in added time away from home since the start of October.

The first half was a tense affair and low on chances. Brad Ash, formerly of Weston, hammered Jenkins Davies’ pull back over from six yards with Weson’s only opening arriving in fortunate circumstances after Dan Greenslade’s clearance came back off Will Dawes, fortunate to ricochet into Harvey Wiles-Richards’ hands.

The City keeper, recalled having missed Saturday following the birth of his first child, had been well protected in the opening 45, but Weston looked rejuvenated straight from the restart.

With 17 seconds of the second half played, Wiles-Richards batted Britton’s curler straight to Dawes, but the winger inexplicably hit the rebound against the inside of the post from a couple of yards.

Joe Raynes picked up a caution five minutes later for a foul on James Dodd, his fifth of the season to rule him out of the trip to Maidstone United at the start of December.

And City’s evening took another hit on 57 minutes when Weston opened the scoring.

A patient build-up play concluded with Michael Smith’s delivery from the byline being headed home by Britton, with Wiles-Richards only able to help it into the net.

Way responded immediately by withdrawing Jordan Alves for Manny Yeboah and slowly but surely, City worked their way back into the contest.

Their efforts were rewarded with an 83rd minute leveller.

Greenslade’s ball from wide left was unintentionally helped on by Emlyn Lewis to Jenkins Davies at the back post. His initial effort was stopped by Jason Pope, but with goalkeeper Max Harris already committed, Jenkins Davies side-footed into the vacated corner from four yards to make it 1-1.

However, having enjoyed late delight at Hampton on Saturday, City suffered the opposite at the Optima Stadium as a scruffy winner cost them a point.

Luke Coulson’s corner from the left saw Britton steal ahead of Kieran Parselle and touch home from close range, his 13th of the season in all competitions to keep Weston hot on the heels of leaders Hornchurch and inflict a first defeat on Bath City since 1 November.
