Taylor sets City Women up for first win of the season
Goals from Poppy Spratt and Adella Clarke – both from Tara Taylor assists – saw Bath City Women record a first win of the 2025/26 season against Gloucester City Reserves at Cannon Clarke Stadium @ Twerton Park this afternoon.
City dominated the first half but were frustrated time and again by offside decisions as they played the ball over Gloucester’s high defensive line. Even when the flag stayed down they couldn’t take advantage, either failing to get a shot away or directing an effort too close to keeper Linteo. However, a minute before the break Katie Davies’ ball forward sent Taylor clear down the right flank. Her first time cross picked out Spratt who controlled it on her chest before drilling a right foot shot into the corner of the net.
The pattern of the game change little after the break and on 63 minutes City doubled their lead. Taylor burst through the Tigers backline to roll a shot past Linteo only to see it hit the inside of the post. The ball rebounded to the City captain and she coolly lifted it to the back post for Clarke to volley home from close range. City were content to see out the game – on a unseasonably warm late September afternoon – and did so comfortably to secure a deserved three points.
