Sweeten double sets City on way to County Cup progress

City comfortably progressed into the 2nd Round of the Francis Hillier Premier Cup with a 4-0 win over Bridgwater United at Cannon Clarke Stadium @ Twerton Park this evening.

An early Luke Russe shot that flew narrowly wide set the tone for the tie as City understandably dominated against the Western League side. However, they found the Robins keeper Smith in great form as he denied Scott Wilson, Louis Sweeten and Jordan Tillson. He was finally beaten in first half stoppage time when Sweeten made space for himself on the edge of the box before firing a shot into the net via the underside of the crossbar.

Less than a minute into the second half City made it 2-0 when Jordan Alves’ cross was cut back by Mitch Beardmore to give Brad Ash a simple tap in. Seven minutes later a Jordan Tillson ball over the top found Ash and he squared it for Sweeten to stroke home his second goal. And it was Alves who completed the scoring on the hour mark, racing past his marker and firing a low shot into the net.
