Be Part of the Fabric of Bath City
Overview
Bath City Football Club has over 125 years of history, having formed in 1889. Known as The Romans, the club is a proud part of the iconic city of Bath, playing its games at Twerton Park and maintaining deep and lasting connections with the local community.
This season, Bath City FC is inviting students from Bath Spa University to take part in an exciting opportunity to design the club’s new Third Shirt. This kit will be worn by the men’s and women’s first team during the 2025/26 season and made available for supporters to purchase.
We are calling for designs that respect the club’s proud heritage but also reflect a creative and forward-thinking approach. This is your chance to shape the visual identity of the club and create a shirt that could become a collector’s item and be worn by fans and players alike.
The Challenge
- Design the official Bath City FC Third Shirt for the 2025/26 season for the Men’s and Women’s first team
- The shirt should be visually distinct from our current:
- Home shirt: Black and White stripes
- Away shirt: Red and White
- We encourage you to take inspiration from:
- The history of the club and the city of Bath
- The club’s nickname, The Romans
- The club’s connection with the local community
- Elements of modern shirt culture and collector appeal
- The design should combine heritage and creativity, appealing to both Bath City fans and the wider football community.
Key Considerations
- The shirt should be suitable for both players on the pitch and fans off the pitch.
- Be bold, be creative, be authentic – this is your opportunity to innovate within the story of a historic club.
- Consider trends in football shirt collecting and fashion crossover.
- The final design must be wearable, practical for sport and commercially viable.
- You must specify primary colours, accent colours and pantone references where possible.
- You may include creative storytelling elements, but the shirt must also meet the functional and branding needs of the club and kit supplier.
Deliverables
- A visual concept/mock-up of the shirt (front and back).
- A short written rationale (up to 300 words) explaining the story and inspiration behind your design.
- A colour specification sheet with exact colours used.
- Optional: Include ideas for how your design could be used in marketing, launch visuals or merchandising.
