SGS Olveston United Women (0) 0 Bath City Women (2) 5 – Sunday 4 May 2025 – Regen Arable SW Regional WFL Div 1N – The Plain
Match Report by Mark Stillman.
Five-star Bath City cruised to a final day success at already-relegated SGS Olveston United.
Shooting up the slope in South Gloucestershire, City made a strong start and were rewarded with a 10th minute opener.
Libby Goater’s persistence set up Maddy Brown on the edge of the box, and her first time strike flew low past keeper Charity Morris.
Erin Duffy made it 2-0 midway through the half. The wing-back’s pace saw her accelerate past Amy Worlock before a pinpoint finish clipped off the inside of the post and in, giving Morris no chance.
The momentum continued after the break with a third inside 45 seconds of the restart.
Tanea Wright, on her maiden outing for the firsts this season, saw her effort well beaten away by Morris, but Olveston failed to clear and Nell Bloomfield calmly slotted into the bottom corner from 20 yards.
It was a nice moment for the youngster who was making her first start for the first team.
Mils Bellotti’s header crashed back off the post and Morris denied Wright one-on-one in a dominant display.
Olveston’s real only chance saw Rosanna Blacker intercept an intended pass to Bloomfield before firing wide on the stretch.
City added two more in the closing stages to replicate the March scoreline over the same opposition.
Brown tidily dispatched from 20 yards after good work by Tara Taylor, before Abby Gray nodded in her first of the season, meeting Wright’s corner with a firm header to wrap up their afternoon and the 2024/25 season.
Having been awarded three points for St Vallier fielding an ineligible player against them, Sunday’s win clinched fourth spot for Matt Abreu’s team.
