Rugby narrowly beats football in charity cricket clash

Bath Rugby Club emerged victorious over Bath City FC in this evening’s charity T20 cricket match. A total of £660 was raised in donations for the respective clubs’ charities Bath Rugby Foundation and Bath City Foundation. Some early big hitting helped the Rugby Club post a total of 150/9 in their 20 overs. Although they regularly lost wickets City kept up with the required run rate until the second half of their innings when some accurate bowling keep them in check and in the end they fell 14 runs short of their target. A City spokesman said: “A wonderful evening had by all at North Parade. We’d like to thank Mark Gunning and all at Bath Cricket for their fantastic hospitality, and both sets of fans who created a great atmosphere.”

Thanks to the 600 spectators who turned out for this Bashes (Bath-Ashes) event, many of whom were sporting Romans colours and offering vocal support. Thanks also to John Moore Sports who generously helped kit out the City team in their cricketing whites.
