Romans put Odd Down to the sword in County Cup win

City secured a quarter-final place in the Francis Hillier Premier Cup with a 4-0 win over Odd Down (Bath) AFC at The Lew Hill Memorial Ground this evening.

With a four-division gap between the two Bath-based sides the outcome of the tie was never really in doubt once Manny Yeboah’s deflected shot gave them a 7th minute lead. An offside flag denied Owen Windsor on 21 minutes but three minutes later he glided past three defenders before finding the corner of the net with a low drive. The hosts had struggled to deal with Jordan Alves all evening and on 37 minutes he made it 3-0 with a 20-yard shot.

The one-way traffic continued into the second half, with keeper Green producing several fine stops. However, he was powerless to deny Yeboah his second and City’s fourth on 77 minutes, the striker heading home Mitch Beardmore’s cross from close range. Substitute Zion Thompson shot straight at the keeper five minutes from time then Alves was again denied by a fine Green save as City maintained their dominance right to the end.
