Forward Donovan returned to City in February 2026 on loan from Dagenham & Redbridge, having originally spent the aborted 2020/21 season with the Romans. He begin his career with Bristol Rovers, coming up through their youth ranks before signing a first professional contract in May 2014. He was loaned out to Wolverhampton Wanderers in November 2014 before making the move permanent the following January. During his three and a half seasons with Wolves he was loaned out to Port Vale, Jumillia in Spain and Exeter City. In July 2019 he returned to Spain with Burgo but was back in England in February 2020 with Macclesfield Town. He was not retained after that COVID-halted season and signed for City in September 2020. He netted six goals in ten appearances for City and joined Sutton United on loan in March 2021. He helped the U’s to the National League title and promotion to the Football League and was signed permanently in July 2021. Following two seasons with Sutton he joined Grimsby United in June 2023. His time with the Mariners was disrupted by injury and on his release in May 2025 he moved to Dagenham & Redbridge.
