Matt Abreu’s Match Preview – City Women vs Downend Flyers

We head into Sunday’s game at Cannon Clarke Stadium @ Twerton Park against Downend Flyers with growing belief in what this team can achieve.

Our season so far has been mixed — one win, one draw and one loss — but last weekend’s 2–0 victory over Gloucester City Reserves showed real signs of the progress being made. The players’ hard work is beginning to be repaid in performances and results, and that gives us something to build on.

We know that if we want to challenge for the title this season, there’s still plenty more to do. Football often comes down to fine margins, and that’s where we need to be sharper. But I have no doubt that this group has the hunger and commitment to keep improving week by week.

Downend Flyers will be a tough opponent, and we’ll need to be at our best on Sunday. Playing at our stadium is always special, and I know the players will give everything to put in a strong performance in front of our supporters.

The match kicks off at 2pm. Tickets are available on the door and cost only £3 with season ticket holders and concessions free of charge. The bar is open too and we’d love to see you there
