Matt Abreu looks ahead to return to action with league leaders test
This Sunday we’re back at Twerton Park, and I can’t wait to see our supporters there as we take on league leaders Mangotsfield United in what should be a fantastic game of football.
It’s been a steady start to the season for us. Our FA Cup loss to Hereford was a tough one to take, but the performance gave us plenty of positives to build on. Since then, we’ve shown real progress — earning a hard-fought draw against last year’s runners-up Bitton, and pushing an in-form Cirencester all the way in another close game.
The turning point came with two well-deserved wins against Gloucester City Reserves and Downend Flyers, which really showed the character and togetherness in this group. After a short break from fixtures, the players have trained brilliantly — full of energy, commitment, and a real hunger to keep improving.
We know Mangotsfield are top of the table for a reason, and it will be a great test for us. The group is in great spirits, and we’ll be giving everything to keep our good run going.
It means a lot to the players when we have strong home support, and I’d love to see as many of you as possible down at Twerton Park cheering us on. You really do make a difference.
Come down, enjoy the game, and let’s make it a great afternoon of football!
See you Sunday.
