Match Preview – Horsham (H) – Enterprise National League South

We are back at home on Saturday to face another early season play-off challenger, as Horsham make their first ever visit to Cannon Clarke Stadium @ Twerton Park.

PREVIOUS MEETINGS

The two sides have only met once, which was an FA Trophy 3rd Qualifying Round tie in November 2018, played on a Sunday while Horsham were sharing at Lancing FC. In an entertaining tie which saw 16-year-old Harvey Wiles-Richards deputise in goal for the unwell Ryan Clarke, City took an early lead through Jack Batten. Horsham, then two levels below, levelled through a fabulous Charlie Harris free-kick, but an equally superb goal by Sean Rigg saw Jerry Gill’s side progress. They went on to lose at Barnet in the next round while Horsham won promotion to Isthmian Premier via the play-offs, where they remained before winning the title in April.

TRIVIA

  • Harvey Sparks and Jack Brivio, part of Horsham’s side for that meeting seven years ago, remain at the club. Lee Harding was an unused substitute and is still with the Hornets.
  • Jack Batten, still at City, scored his first FA Trophy goal in that tie.
  • It was Harvey Wiles-Richards’ second appearance for the club, his previous was a 3-1 win over Welton Rovers earlier in the month, which was later replayed as his brother Charlie (who scored) was later confirmed to be ineligible to play.

FORM

  • Bath City have won their last two home games in all competitions without conceding a goal. They lost their last match 1-0 at Hemel Hempstead, conceding their latest goal (98.39) in National League South history.
  • Horsham are unbeaten in five in the league, winning their last two.
