Jenkins-Davies stunner caps 2nd half improvement in Yeovil loss

City suffered a 3-1 defeat against Yeovil Town at Cannon Clarke Stadium @ Twerton Park in their penultimate pre-season outing this afternoon. All three goals for the visitors came in the first half before City improved considerably after the break, Will Jenkins-Davies capping the improvement with a stunning late strike.

City enjoyed the better of the opening ten minutes as Joe Raynes twice saw shots blocked and Ewan Clark had his low drive well saved by keeper Gould. However, on 14 minutes it was the Glovers who broke the deadlock when a deep cross picked out Williams for a neat back post finish. In the 27th minute it was 2-0 as Daly tapped home from close range after Harvey Wiles-Richards parried an initial shot. And seven minutes before the break Sims capped a great opening half for Yeovil, slotting the ball past Wiles-Richards.

City made two changes at the interval and adjusted their formation, which saw the balance of the game shift in their favour. With the visitors now rarely posing an attacking threat, City began to enjoy the majority of possession. Jenkins-Davies lifted a good chance over the bar on 56 minutes before Raynes also failed to hit the target with a rising shot. Scott Wilson then saw a close range shot blocked but with nine minutes remaining City’s efforts were rewarded when Jenkins-Davies produced a 25-yard screamer than flew past Gould. There was still time for Alex Fisher to see his header tipped over by Gould and Kieran Parselle send a similar chance narrowly over.
