Bath City Women’s Manager Matt Abreu’s Weekly Thoughts

Coming off the back of last weekend’s narrow FA Cup defeat to Hereford (2–1), there are plenty of positives for us to take forward. The effort, togetherness, and mentality on display were second to none – every player gave everything for the team. We showed composure at the back, control through the middle, and intent going forward. The sharpness in the final third will come, but the foundations are strong and getting stronger with every game.

Next up, we face Bitton – a side that finished second in the league last season and one we know well. Our games against them are always tight, hard-fought battles, going right back to our first pre-season meeting. Both clubs share the ambition of climbing the women’s football pyramid, which is a credit to the work being done on and off the pitch.

We’ve worked hard since last season, and with the progress we’ve already shown, we’ll be looking to build on that and push for the edge this time around.

Another big test awaits Sunday – but with our togetherness, hard work, and belief, we’re ready for it.
