Bath City Women (2) 3 Feniton Women (1) 1 – Sunday 8 March 2026
Cannon Clarke Stadium @ Twerton Park MJM Sports League Cup Quarter Final
Match Report by Mark Stillman.
Bath City Women made it to the semi-finals of the League Cup after overcoming Division One South side Feniton Women.
In a match marred by a nasty leg injury to Hollie Stone, City kept their focus to return to winning ways.
The Devonians took a shock lead during a bright start.
From their first corner, Lexie Watts delivered to the near post and top scorer Louise Hiscox headed in her ninth of the campaign.
City regrouped. Erin Duffy’s goalbound effort was headed off the line by Steph Beck before an element of luck drew the Romans level.
Maddy Brown’s near post corner saw Stone’s attempted header away fly past her own keeper to get City deservedly back on terms.
In a half disrupted by a series of injuries for the visitors, Matt Abreu’s team still found some rhythm, demonstrated by a fine second goal.
Eve Trivett and Beth Edwards linked up before Brown took over, cut inside and superbly curved the ball past Laura Niblett from 25 yards into the bottom right corner.
Referee Darren Robbins was forced to end the first half a few seconds early after Stone’s crunching challenge on Duffy saw her come off worse, and after a lengthy stoppage which saw her stretchered off in a leg brace, the players mutually agreed to delay the start of the second half.
Watts volleyed Erin Vosper’s free-kick into the legs of Lucy Clay after the restart but it was the nearest Feniton got to forcing penalties.
Their hopes of a comeback were quashed on 82 minutes.
Jasmine Rennie’s shot was well tipped onto the bar by Niblett, who was grounded with Adella Clarke following up.
The keeper appeared to upend Clarke in the aftermath, but the substitute eventually headed home despite the keeper’s heroics, with referee Robbins positioned to adjudge that the ball had crossed the line.
It was the last telling action as City reached the semi-finals, ahead of another final four showdown in the Somerset Junior Cup on Sunday when they travel to Paulton Rovers.
