Bath City Women picked up their first three points of the season with a 2-0 win over Gloucester City Women Reserves at the Cannon Clarke Stadium @ Twerton Park.

The Romans started on the front foot and had their first shot only 20 seconds after kick off but Maddy Brown’s strike hit the post. It wouldn’t have counted though as the referee blew straight away for offside, the first of many times that the home team were caught out by Gloucester’s high line.

Bath went on to dominate the first half and created many chances, but it took a wonderful goal on the stroke of half time for them to break the deadlock. Katie Davies delivered a diagonal ball to Tara Taylor who managed finally beat the offside trap. Taylor delivered a brilliant first time cross to Poppy Spratt who kept her composure, chested the ball down and volleyed into the net from 18 yards.

Taylor was involved the goals again in the second half when she intercepted a pass and surged forward to shoot. The ball hit the far post but Taylor was straight onto the rebound and crossed the ball to the waiting Adella Clarke, who tapped it in for City’s second.

The Romans kept pushing for a third and came close several times, most notably in the 90th minute when Freya Edwards’ superbly weighted cross from the left wing reached Koren Thorner-Atkinson on the edge of the penalty area. The Bath player drove into the box and forced a final save from Sam Linteo

Lucy Clay was seldom tested as City comfortably claimed their first win of 2025/26.
