Bath City hold celebration of women’s and girls’ football
A crowd of over 1100 came to the Cannon Clarke Stadium @ Twerton Park for the men’s match v Enfield Town but their numbers were boosted by lots of girls who attended match for a celebration of Bath City Women’s and Girls’ football.
At half time, successful Bath City Youth girls’ teams joined players from Bath City Women to parade the trophies that they won last season and after the match headed to Charlie’s bar to watch the Lionesses take on China.

Earlier in the week, the club announced three new initiatives for women and girls’ football; a new Under 18s team that next season will play in the Bristol Girls League, a partnership with Bath College for the formation of an Academy programme and the establishment of the first women’s walking football team for the club.
Jane Jones Director of Women’s Football at Bath City FC said:
“At Bath City, we’ve got lots of to celebrate and be proud of for women and girls so it was great to see the reaction to the teams today. There are approximately 550 women and girls who play football each week as a result of programmes run across the Bath City family and with our new initiatives, we hope that next season there will be even more.”

Wera Hobhouse Liberal Democrat MP for Bath attended the game and said:
“It’s fantastic to see enthusiastic and growing support for women’s and girls’ football here at Bath City.
“Football is one of the most powerful tools we have for supporting women’s health. The sport builds cardiovascular fitness, strengthens muscles and bones, and boosts confidence and mental well-being. When women step onto the pitch, they’re not just playing a game—they’re investing in their long-term health and proving what’s possible through strength, teamwork, and resilience.
“Congratulations to all of Bath City’s female teams for all your successes last season – I look forward to celebrating many more with you in the future!”
