Bath City (2) 3 Worthing (0) 2 – Saturday 24 January 2026 – Enterprise National League South – Cannon Clarke Stadium @ Twerton Park
Match Report by Mark Stillman.
Will Jenkins Davies’ fine double secured Bath City a thrilling win over high-flying Worthing.
Darren Way’s decision to play the midfielder up front bore fruit as he moved up to eight goals this season.
Matt Bowman chipped in with his first for the club as the Romans scored three at home in the league for the first time under Way.
Teddy Jenks and Ollie Godziemski twice halved the deficit for Worthing, who suffered their first defeat at Cannon Clarke Stadium @ Twerton Park.
Jenkins Davies earned his first start since November having recovered from injury, with Ruebin Sheppard and Jaiden Putman also in from the off for the first time while Joe Raynes (suspended) missed out along with injured forwards Brad Ash and Owen Windsor.
Worthing enjoyed a lot of the ball in the first five minutes but undid their promising work by conceding a penalty.
Jenkins Davies won the ball back from Harry Ransom following a Worthing throw and Jordan Alves took over down the right.
He was clumsily upended by Toby Byron and referee Scott Simpson pointed to the spot, indicating he believed contact was made inside the penalty area.
Following a delay, Jenkins Davies remained calm and slammed his spot-kick into the roof of the net to break the deadlock.
Wiles-Richards had been well-protected in the City goal from the league’s top scorers, easily gathering Jenks’ deflected effort midway through the half.
Within 30 seconds, Wiles-Richards was left on the floor after Jenks caught him on the ankle in trying to intercept loose control from the City stopper.
It left him unable to continue with Charlie Binns on in his place, though this didn’t impact the Romans immediately as they doubled their lead on 33 minutes.
Worthing riskily tried playing their way out of trouble and Odei Martin Sorondo slipped in his own penalty area, presenting the ball to Bowman who accepted the gift by side-footing past the advancing Josh Jeffries.
The visitors reacted well with Brad Dolaghan’s effort deflected over by Kieran Parselle’s outstretched leg, followed by Joe Cook heading Jack Spong’s resulting corner over when he should have tested Binns.
Razzaq Coleman De-Craft couldn’t keep his free-kick down on the edge of the box as City went into the interval with their two-goal lead intact.
It could have been three soon after the break. Sheppard’s delicate ball over the top was perfectly weighted for Luke Russe, who held his run to remain onside.
He helped it across for Alves but the ball somehow flew between his legs when any contact would have been enough.
Visiting manager Adam Hinshelwood made three changes and it had the desired effect as they pulled one back on 71 minutes.
Two substitutes were involved as Shiloh Remy’s lofted cross saw Binns put off by the presence of Daniel Nkrumah, and he could only flap the ball out to Jenks who blasted home from six yards despite Parselle’s efforts on the line.
They should have levelled within two minutes. A tidy combination of passes inside the City box eventually saw Cook tee up Remeiro Moulton, but he wastefully fired against the outstretched boot of Binns.
Alex Fisher was introduced for Sheppard and he made a bright start, drilling low to force Jeffries into a parry to his right with Ransom denying Jenkins Davies on the follow-up.
The substitute’s involvement led to a third for the Romans.
Putman’s fine ball down the right was chased by Fisher, who did well to keep it in and pull back for the onrushing Jenkins Davies to slide home on the heavy surface and divert away from Jeffries.
There was still time for Worthing to have the final say and maintain their record of scoring two on every visit to Twerton.
This time it was their other two substitutes involved as Sam Packham’s cross was met by Godziemski, who climbed above Jack Batten to nod in.
Fortunately for City there was only enough time for Dan Greenslade to hammer the ball into touch before referee Simpson blew for full-time, as the Romans picked up their first win of 2026 to knock Worthing off top spot and move themselves four points clear of the bottom four.
