Alves strike secures pre-season victory over Larkhall
City secured a first win of pre-season against Larkhall Athletic this evening thanks to Jordan Alves’ first half free-kick. He fired home from 19-yards in the 19th minute. Luke Russe crashed a shot against the frame of the goal six minutes later, Ewan Clark seeing his follow up shot brilliantly saved by the Larks keeper. Ollie Tomlinson suffered the same fate in the game’s closing stages, having already seen a header cleared off the line ten minutes into the second half. City created a number of other good openings in the largely one-sided game, with their only real scare coming from a poor Harvey Wiles-Richards clearance that ended with Larkhall’s no.11 somehow missing the open goal.
