Windsor on target again but City have to settle for Enfield point

City and Enfield Town shared the points this afternoon at Cannon Clarke Stadium @ Twerton Park. Owen Windsor put City ahead on 54 minutes but the lead only lasted eleven minutes as Leonard levelled for the visitors.

City almost started the game in perfect style as Windsor flashed a first minute shot across the face of goal. On 13 minutes the Romans had an escape when Youngs’ shot from a corner hit the post. These were rare clear cut openings during the first half, although Windsor saw a 34th minute shot deflected narrowly wide and Youngs’ fired a  good stoppage time opening over the bar.

After an equally quiet opening to the second half Joe Raynes almost opened the scoring in stunning fashion, hitting a first time 35-yard shot that keeper Barrett brilliantly tipped over. However, they only had to wait another three minutes to take the lead. The ball broke to Luke Russe and his pull-back was steered home by Windsor from 10 yards via a slight deflection off a defender. Lifted by this Kieran Parselle and Mitch Beardmore both forced further good stops from Barrett. Enfield’s equaliser arrived on 65 minutes when neat work by Dillon set up Leonard to slide the ball past Charlie Binns. Youngs shot straight at Binns in the 74th minute then a minute later Barrett batted Jordan Alves’ shot behind for a corner. Both sides continued to look for a late winner but neither keeper was called into further action as the game deservedly ended all-square.
