whoever we sign with the fund should idealy be signed for more than one season so if a league club does come in then we will get a transfer fee, if not we risk waisting the money!

Wise point Mouth...but contracts need to be carefully negotiated so that both player and club feel the deal is fair.

About 3k plus a bit in funds collected and pledges. The sort of sum that could hire a top man for the run in if we can get in touch with the leaders.Keep it coming.

I'm confused. Adie talks post Stortford about not having funds and there are players out there. We have a hit man fund. There is less than half a season left ergo the quality of the player(s) we could afford is higher than before. Can someone square this circle?

The hitman fund was boosted by a donation today...the first for a while...let's get it moving again till we have enough to make a difference.I'm guessing the 3.5k in pleadges and donations wouldn't yet be enough by itself to sign a quality hitman till the end of the season and the club must be feeling the pinch from the loss of the holiday fixtures. :dontknow:

In which case the loan is working out well and he should return fully match fit, confident and in form :blob4:

it's not a question of winning my aproval - for what it's worth i was fairly impressed with him on the occasions i've seen him this season - but it's more the 'davidge syndrome' that appears to be being built up around him (without anywhere near the same foundation) that he is somehow an answer to our shortcomings

this seems as much based on the percieved view that he's not been given a chance by britton rather than anything more concrete

yes, i've been impressed with him as well and was pleased to hear adie say at the 'meet the manager' that he felt his strongest position was as striker. you compared him to davidge - for me the similarity is that both needed to play well every week to retain a startying place. slipping below standard resulted in being relegated to the bench, where neither appears to be satisfied. i assume, like whippet, that's why perrot is presently at frome. i just think our lack of striking options came home to roost today - we've been too reliant on a reformed edwards with good support from mohamed - i see some are now talking about stolcers being the answer. would seem very hard on perrot if he's not brought back asap...

I fear that the poor lad will never be acceptable at our Club. He might go on to score a hatfull of goals for lowly Frome Town, but that record will probably not be recognised by us as it will have been attained at a much lower footballing level.

As I will never cease saying, it is players like Perrott that we need 'on board' at this Club permanently, both for their playing potential and for reducing the wage bill of the squad. The overriding importance of spotting a youth with promise is that he is almost certain to improve to BSS level if he is given the chance - but it will not occur overnight. The skills of good coaching and training of potential gems is of paramount importance to all Clubs, and not least to Bath City in its sullen financial state. If we cannot find ways of increasing our gates then, if we can gradually absorb four or five youngsters like Mike into our squad, we can reduce the wage bill of it by enough to break even in seasons to come, by my reckoning. I am quite angry when I see relatively expensive 'off the shelf' players putting in sub-standard performances at regular intervals.

Loaning the successful young trialists out to lower level teams should improve their fitness, but it will not prove that they have what it takes to perform at BSS level.

I'm 100% with you on this Stevie; indeed, should the next few results be disappointing, the silver lining should be that youngsters get the chance to play more.Look at Chippnumb's track record of developing young strikers who have gone on to better things...there must be something to be learned from what they do. :dontknow:

as it looks like we won't be spending the hit man fund this season as we have 3 forwards already, what's going to happen to it? maybe use it to keep Hogg, Holland , Connelly at he club next season
