DARREN JACKSON Jul 1994 - Oct 1994 Appearances: 9 Goals: 0
When centre-back Darren was released by Oxford United in the summer of 1994 he was immediately snapped up by Tony Rickets. Impressed in pre-season and played in nine of the opening twelve games of the season before becoming a victim of the sides' poor start. So, when an offer from Hong Kong side Songtoa Sports was made for the 23-year old he headed for the former UK colony. Had spent nine years at the Manor Ground having signed as a schoolboy, but made only 14 appearances although he did have a further 5 games on loan at Reading. Was also in a single England Under-21 squad.

ELLIOT JACKSON Jul 1999 - May 2000 Appearances: 54 Goals: 0
Signed from Oxford United in the 1999 close season after he was surprisingly released by the U's. Made headlines for Oxford in their FA Cup draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge and showed why for three-quarters of the 1999-2000 season. However, a loss of form and confidence that coincided with City's title hopes falling away saw Elliot dropped for the final few games of the season and he was released in May 2000. On leaving City he was reported to have gone travelling but is now playing for Swindon Supermarine.

TOBY JACKSON Jul 1988 - Nov 1989 Appearances: 4 (1) Goals: 0
An Evening Chronicle headline in April 1989 stated that "Manchester United trail Toby Jackson". The teenage defender had only made a single appearance for City but had attracted the attention of the Division 1 side. However, there was no dream move for Toby and after making four more outings, all in cup games, during the opening months of the 1989-90 season he made the slightly less glamorous move to Trowbridge Town.

STUART JAMES Oct 1995 - May 2000 & Oct 2002 - Jul 2003
Appearances: 207 (41) Goals: 6
During two spells with City midfielder Stuart made nearly 250 appearances. Was initially signed by Tony Ricketts in October 1995 following his release by Swindon Town where he spent a season on professional terms after serving an YTS apprenticeship. Was surprisingly released at the end of the 1999-2000 season by Paul Bodin to join Newport County. Was a regular during his two seasons in Wales before financial problems saw him shown the exit. Returned to Twerton Park and, although never recapturing the form of his first spell, the former prison warder was always a popular member of the squad. Joined Salisbury in July 2003 when a journalism course meant he would be unavailable for the opening weeks of the season.

JOSH JEFFRIES Jul 2000 - May 2004 Appearances: 13 (22) Goals: 5
Despite having made just two starts prior to the 2003-04 season former youth player Josh was City's longest serving uninterrupted player. The striker joined the club in the summer of 2000 as a 16-year old and made his first team debut that season against Street in the Somerset Premier Cup. Continued to progress through the ranks with City and was offered a first team contract in June 2003. However, he failed to earn a regular starting place and it was no surprise when he was released at the end of the season. Joined Paulton Rovers in July 2004 before moving onto Chippenham Town a year later.

STEVE JENKINS Oct 2003 - May 2004 Appearances: 30 (1) Goals: 0
Left-sided defender Steve began his career as a trainee with Southampton before joining Brentford in March 1999. Only made a handful of appearances for the Bees and dropped into non-league football with Forest Green Rovers during the summer of 2001. Was a regular starter at The Lawn for the next two seasons but financial concerns saw him released in October 2003 when Alan Pridham snapped him. Despite question marks over his distribution Steve made 30 starts at left-back but was not offered a new contact at the end of that campaign and moved onto Weston Super Mare.
