City v Oxford City Match Preview

The Romans return to Twerton Park on Monday for their last regular season home match of the season! Jerry Gill’s men take on Oxford City as they look to further secure a spot in the play-offs. Kick off – 3pm!

City’s first match over the Easter weekend was a trip to Hungerford Town on Friday afternoon. Despite dominating possession at Bulpit Lane, the Romans couldn’t produce some much needed magic in the final third and were made to settle for a point in Berkshire. With the play-off chasers breathing down the necks of fifth-placed City, Monday’s match against a mid-table Oxford City is a crucial one and the boys will need your vocal support at Twerton Park!

The reverse fixture in September saw the Romans come out on top thanks to a stoppage-time winner from Joe Raynes. For all the world they looked set to return with a frustrating draw courtesy of a deflected Oxford leveller – Adam Mann had given City the lead – and a number of fine saves from home goalkeeper Craig King. But late, late City pressure paid off. You can watch Joe’s fine strike here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cTaWS17oG9o

Can Jerry Gill’s Romans repeat their heroics from earlier on in the season? Head down to what is likely to be a sunny Twerton Park, gather family and friends and get behind the City! The play-offs are in touching distance and your support can help get them over the line!
