Away Trip to Wealdstone

City travel to Wealdstone on Saturday hoping to chalk up yet another victory on the road. The Stones sit level on points with City, two places back on goal difference in an increasingly tight race for the Vanarama National League South play-off places. Just five points now separate 4th placed Chelmsford City and Hampton & Richmond Borough in 16th spot!

Those supporters wishing to travel should note that the Stones have not played at their spiritual home in Harrow for many years and are now based at Grosvenor Vale in Ruislip. The corresponding fixture last season was only the 4th defeat suffered by City dating back to 1973, while twelve victories have been celebrated in those 22 visits!

Having taken over the ground from defunct Ruislip Manor, the Vale has gradually been improved in stages thanks to the sterling efforts of the club’s loyal fans. A new stand behind the goal has been added and this helps to increase the atmosphere generated by the vociferous locals. And in this same part of the ground can be found the famous gun turret, used to protect nearby Northolt Aerodrome during WW2!

As this is London suburbia there are very few attractions in the surrounding area but Wealdstone has one of the league’s best clubhouses, offering some excellent beer, hot food and a warm welcome. And as there will be contributions from a City supporter, the always readable programme should be worth buying.

We will be wearing our blue away kit for this fixture as The Stones will be playing in a replica of their 1919 black and white kit – the first worn after the Great War. You can find out more info here: https://www.wealdstone-fc.com/news-blog/preview-bath-city-10-nov-ko15-00
