Away Trip to Banbury United

City start what will hopefully be a long FA Cup run on Saturday when we travel to Banbury United for a 2nd Qualifying Round tie. This will be our second trip to Oxfordshire in seven days and a repeat of the fine win at Oxford City would be a great reward for the many supporters expected to travel.

However the Puritans have made a promising start to the season, lying in 4th position in the Southern Premier Central League which is one level below ours. A first defeat of the season was suffered at home to St Neots Town last Saturday but this was followed by a midweek victory at Bedworth United. And in the last round of the Cup Weymouth were dispatched following a replay.

We have played the Puritans 12 times in the past, mostly in the Southern League in the late 60s and the early years of this century. The latter period saw the most memorable encounter when a Scott Partridge hat trick saw City overturn a two goal deficit.

Information about the club can be found at

Getting there

The 95 mile trip via the M4 from Bath will take around two hours. The Supporters Club are running a large coach and full details can be found at…

The two hour train journey from Bath Spa will involve changing at Didcot and a five minute walk to the ground from Banbury station.

Whichever means of travel you use to get to the match, have a safe journey and hopefully the reward of a place in the next round for the City!
